Help Grundy Library Refurbish Our Children’s Area
A More Vibrant, Engaging Space for Every Child
The Margaret R. Grundy Memorial Library’s children’s area has always been a place where little learners discover books, toys and share meaningful moments with their parents and caregivers. With a 45% increase in youth programming attendance in 2025, demand for this space continues to grow, but the area itself has not been upgraded in many years. Today, more families than ever use the library, especially parents and caregivers who see it as a necessary resource for enhancing their children’s learning and play.
Why This Upgrade Matters
Libraries help children develop socially, strengthen literacy skills, and learn responsibility through the borrowing process. Every day, more parents and caregivers visit our library because we provide dedicated space for quality, shared activities like reading together or attending Baby Storytime or Stay & Play, which can strengthen bonds and create positive memories.
Now, with your help, we can transform this space!
You may not know that the Library receives no public funding; the Grundy Foundation funds the essential operations of the Library. But you can help us do more by making a contribution!
With your support, we aim to create a warm, modern, and interactive environment for babies, toddlers, and young children. Your donation will help fund:
New Furniture
Comfortable, child-friendly furniture that welcomes families to read, play, and spend meaningful time
New Wall-Mounted Toys & Play Features
Interactive toys and activities to assist in early childhood development, inspire curiosity and make learning fun
Expanded Collections of Toys and Learning Materials
- Replace old, worn-out toys with new ones
- Add more games and learning materials that allow toys and games to be rotated out on the floor
- Give children something new to look forward to when coming to the library
Improve Shelving and Room Layout
Reorganize and clearly mark spaces to make books easier to find and to create a more welcoming experience for families, while fostering independence in young readers through interactive browsing bins that invite children to explore books on their own
Acoustic Management for a Better Library Experience
Add specialized sound-absorbing acoustic panels to allow children to be themselves and enjoy active play while reducing noise spilling into the library’s quieter areas.
You Can Make a Difference!
