Getting to Know Candid
Our community is truly remarkable! We have an abundance of nonprofits dedicated to helping people from all walks of life, regardless of age, race, nationality, or minority status. Grundy Library is proud to be part of this community and wants to showcase an online tool only available at Grundy Library that helps to support these incredible organizations.
Two main tools we offer are The Foundation Center and GuideStar by Candid. Candid also believes in nonprofits and all the good they do for our communities. They track and provide analysis for nonprofits and grant makers so that both parties can have clarity and data to back up their decision-making.

Foundation Directory
Candid’s Foundation Directory delivers quality funding prospects. Use their simple global search to find grant makers that fund nonprofits like yours. Foundation Directory helps nonprofits find funding faster by using simple keywords or advance searches. This database also now includes Grants to Individuals, which helps students, artists, and researchers find funds if they are not part of a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
Why would you use it? If your nonprofit needs additional monetary donations to help fund a new or continuing project, then this database will help you find funders that support the types of projects you are hoping to finance. Join us Friday, October 18 for a class on how to use this resource.
GuideStar
Search 2 million-plus nonprofits through GuideStar’s intuitive search functionality. Target organizations that matter to you based on geography, organizational structure or staff size, or their financial metrics. GuideStar Charity Check included provides the easiest due diligence available; with it you can determine the charitable status of a nonprofit with just one click.
Why would you use it? If you want to show grant makers that you are wise with your finances and how you use money, then GuideStar allows you to do that by earning seals. These seals show grant makers that you are striving to be transparent and open with how you spend the funds given to you by your community and gained through grants.
