Beginner Board Games @ Grundy
You know Grundy Library has books – but did you know we also have board games? Looking for some games to start? Here are some of our favorites:
Azul – In this game, players compete to create the most beautiful decorative tile display. To do this, tiles will be drafted one by one. This game is astonishingly simple to learn while offering deep strategy. Oh, and it’s really pretty.
Settlers of Catan – Many view this game as one of the best starter games to getting deeper into the board game hobby. Build roads, settlements, and cities across the island of Catan. Amass a large hand of resources from getting the right dice rolls – and if you don’t, hope you can negotiate a trade with another player! A classic for a reason.
Pandemic – While the above two games are competitive, this game is cooperative. Everyone wins or everyone loses together, which can be a nice change of pace from playing games where only one person wins. Travel the globe, research diseases, and be ready for when things turn south – because they will! A pleasingly tense game.
