Preschool Ready: Nursery Rhymes for Ages 0-5

This month’s Preschool Ready series post includes some fun Nursery Rhymes for little ones aged 0-5. Nursery Rhymes are a great way to build up phonological awareness and vocabulary—two of the early literacy skills we focus on for little learners.

According to Mother Goose on the Loose by Betsy Diamant-Cohen, “nursery rhymes are excellent vehicles for promoting linguistic awareness because they contain lots of words, use rhymes and rhythm patterns, and are easy to learn.”

Below are some fun nursery rhymes you can sing with your little one(s) to get them preschool and kindergarten ready!

Itsy-Bitsy Spider

The itsy-bitsy spider
went up the water spout.
Down came the rain
and washed the spider out.
Out came the sun and dried up all the rain.
And the itsy-bitsy spider
went up the spout again.
