Grundy Library Receives Proclamations for National Library Week
Library announces 60th Anniversary Celebration
Bristol, PA, April 17, 2026 – The Grundy Library announced today that it received two proclamations and a certificate for National Library Week, running April 19-25.
On Monday evening, at the Bristol Borough Council meeting, US Representative Brian Fitzpatrick presented Library Director Megan Marks and Grundy Foundation Executive Director Jameson Gilpatrick with a certificate accompanied by an American flag flown over the United States Capitol honoring the Library in recognition of its service to the community. Immediately following, Bristol Borough Council and Council President Ralph DiGuiseppe made a proclamation, declaring April 19-25 National Library Week in the Borough and encouraging residents to visit the Library and explore its resources.
At Wednesday morning’s Bucks County Commissioners’ meeting, Commissioners Diane Ellis-Marseglia, Robert Harvie, and Gene DiGirolamo declared April 19-25 National Library Week for all of Bucks County, recognizing the Grundy Library and the Bucks County Free Library System, and commending the libraries and their staff for providing access to essential services and for strengthening our communities.
“We are honored to be recognized by Congressman Fitzpatrick, the County Commissioners, and Borough Council”, said Marks. “The library is a place of connection and helps communities thrive at all stages of life.”
“Libraries are one of the cornerstones of democracy,” Gilpatrick said. “We provide free access to books, information, and the opportunity to learn for everyone. The Grundy Foundation is honored to provide these resources to Borough residents in a beautiful setting along the Delaware River.”
The Grundy Library celebrates its 60th Anniversary this year, having opened on June 24, 1966.
Among other special programs, a new exhibit will open in September on the history of the Grundy Library and a short film will premiere about the history of libraries in Bristol Borough starting in 1850 through the early 1960s.
The Grundy Foundation serves the Bristol Borough community through the Last Will & Testament of Joseph R. Grundy. Through his generosity, the Foundation oversees the Margaret R. Grundy Memorial Library and the Margaret R. Grundy Memorial Museum, providing resources and leadership to empower them to fulfill their missions and to serve as leading hubs of knowledge, culture, and inspiration for the Bristol Borough community, Bucks County, and beyond. Both the Library and the Museum were named in honor of Joseph’s only sister, Margaret. The Foundation also helps non-profit organizations achieve their missions through a grant program and other means of support.
